Welcome to NSW2010

Hi and welcome to the NSW 2010 website. Thanks for visiting - check back regularly for news and updates. We hope that you will find all that you want on this website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail the team at chairman@nsw2010.co.uk.

All the NSW 2010 team have attended many National Sporting Weekends in the past and they firmly believe that it is the premier event in the Round Table calendar. We have all worked very hard to live up to the standards set by past National Sporting Weekends. In the location and the program of events that we have chosen for you for 2010, we feel that we have achieved this.

The majority of the accommodation is set on the University of Cumbria, Lancaster Campus which is right in the heart of the city. It is no more than a five- or ten-minute walk from one side of the city centre back to the campus. You can check out photographs and details of the accommodation on our venue page. If you want your group or area to be accommodated in any particular hall please let us know and we will try our very best to see that this happens. If you are booking in as a group or area please make this clear and we will try and keep you together any way.

The majority of the sporting events will take place on campus on the Saturday. The golf and the fishing competitions on the Friday have to be off site but we have laid on transport to these events. This transport will set off from the campus.

We know that most of you will arrive on Friday afternoon or Friday evening. There will be people on hand to guide you to your accommodation throughout Friday afternoon and evening and there will be some entertainment put on on campus. As locals to the Lancaster area however we would not want you to miss the fantastic nightlife that is Lancaster. For that reason we have laid on a range of different venues throughout the town centre within which there will be a variety of drinks, atmosphere and entertainment on offer.

These will be set out in your joining instructions and will be clearly signposted on the weekend. You must wear your weekend pass to have priority admission to all the venues and take advantage of the various promotions on offer.

We hope that you will be able to start your Friday evening early and as we know most of you will want to eat out, we have arranged a choice of places to eat. These will all be set out on the venue page as they are agreed. We are working with these venues to put on short order menus and other concessions so that your meal will not delay the main purpose of the evening which is of course preparing for the following days’ sports by drinking heavily and sampling the local nightlife. You can of course visit other drinking, eating or entertainment venues which are not part of our 'NSW2010 Approved Venue' scheme.

We want you to start your evening early so that you can sample as many of the pubs as you want to or are able to before you move on to the main entertainment of the evening which will take place at the Sugar House from 10 p.m. until the early hours. Admission to this exclusive club is only for Tablers and you will need to wear your weekend pass to get in.

When you arrive at the campus we want you to park your car first in the car park that we have assigned to you. This will be the one adjacent to your room. Then proceed to the Gateway Building to check in and register for your sports events. We will use this building for all necessary points of contact throughout the weekend. This means if you have a problem at all you can go back to that building and find a member of the NSW staff who will be pleased to help. Accommodation and registration will take place here as will booking in for the sporting activities on Saturday.

After the sports have finished on Saturday, we have arranged a great program of entertainment which would take place in a purpose-built marquee right in the centre of the campus. Throughout this Saturday night, we have also got free-run of the campus and all the campus bars. We will however put on a bar in the marquee to avoid you having to leave the marquee to get drinks. The entertainment and drinking will go on late into the night and we know that a good time will be had by all.

There is plenty of car parking on campus for everybody. Even those who book in late and therefore cannot stay on campus will be able to park there free of charge for the entire weekend.
